I FOUND THIS TODAY. IT IS A SELF-PORTRAIT OF MY MOM’S FATHER. HE WAS AN ANIMATOR. ONE OF HIS MENTEES, J.J., POSTED IT ON FACEBOOK. IT WAS MADE IN THE LATE 70s/ EARLY 80s.
THIS IS ONE OF HIS DOODLES. HE WORKED ON THE BERENSTAIN BEARS AND MANY OTHER CARTOONS.
MOST OF THE INFORMATION I HAVE ABOUT HIM IS THROUGH J.J., WHO ALSO POSTED THIS AND CAPTIONED IT: “...desk (he built from scratch), disc, metronome, and other accoutrements related to him...” I THOUGHT THE PHOTO WAS TAKEN IN A STUDIO SOMEWHERE, BUT THE COMMENT SECTION REVEALED IT WAS FROM AN EXHIBITION IN 2018. I WONDER WHERE THE DESK LIVES NOW.
“...nice original pencil schematic (and photostat) for an animation camera stand shooting surface in the 1960s“
SEEMS LIKE HE HAD A SENSE OF HUMOR. I GUESS HE DREW AND MADE STUFF TOO.

SUNDAY APRIL 14 1237P
I HAVEN’T BEEN DREAMING MUCH LATELY, OR I GUESS HAVEN’T BEEN REMEMBERING MY DREAMS AS MUCH AS I USED TO. LAST NIGHT I HAD MANY VIVID AND REALISTIC DREAMS. ONE THAT MADE ME THINK ABOUT FAULT AND DEFLECTION, WAYS IN WHICH I BLAME OTHERS VERSUS ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY. ANOTHER IN WHICH I IGNORED SOMEONE I USED TO BE CLOSE WITH, KEPT LOOKING OVER MY SHOULDER TO SEE IF THEY WERE STILL THERE. IN A THIRD, I HAD TO GET A SHOT IN MY SPINE. SOME SORT OF VACCINE. FAMILY AND/OR A FRIEND CAME WITH ME, STAYED IN THE WAITING ROOM. I WANTED ONE OF THEM TO COME INTO THE ROOM AND HOLD MY HAND. I DIDN’T WANT TO BE ALONE. I WAS SCARED. I WAS SO SCARED OF THE PAIN THAT WAS TO COME. THE FEAR, THE WORRYING- THE IMAGINED PAIN- ENDED UP BEING WORSE THAN THE PAIN OF ACTUALLY RECEIVING THE SHOT.
I LISTENED TO THE VOICE MEMOS ON MY PHONE YESTERDAY. I THINK “NEW RECORDING 4” FROM JUNE 9TH 2020 PROVOKED THIS SPECIFIC DREAM.
FEAR OF THE FUTURE, MADE EXTREMELY TANGIBLE THROUGH THE FEAR OF PHYSICAL PAIN THAT IS TO COME. A FUTURE WE CAN FEEL, A FUTURE WE ARE AFRAID OF. THINKING ABOUT THE FUTURE, ESPECIALLY FEAR OF IT, REALLY ALTERS OUR PERCEPTION OF TIME. OUR FEAR OF THE FUTURE CHANGES AND AFFECTS HOW WE ACT IN THE PRESENT. WE ALLOW OURSELVES TO BE AFFECTED BY THINGS THAT HAVE NOT YET HAPPENED, THINGS THAT ARE NOT REAL. WE BEGIN TO LIVE IN THE RULES OF A CONSTRUCTED REALITY. A REALITY THAT MAY NOT EVEN EVER BE.
FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN.
“Choose curiosity (wondering what might happen next) over worry (hoping that a certain specific thing will happen next, and fearing it might not) whenever you can”
